Can Air Canada flights ever be 'cheap'? Print E-mail

Does Air Canada ever really offer  “cheap” airfares on domestic tickets; is a question many travelers find them selves asking?  When searching through articles or travel reports for this answer in order to purchase the tickets required in executing their Canadian trip.   Even when tourists are willing to search for discounted rates, sticking to flying economy class during off peak time slots, airfares can still be pricey.  National Airline’s hefty domestic rates are causing many vacationers to redirect their Canuck holiday plans to international destinations in the pursuit of bargain rate adventures.

Air Canada’s website currently advertises an “across the pond” promotion selling off discounted international flights from various Canadian major cities (St.John’s, Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, and Yellowknife) to London England.  These Flights are round trip, departing daily, ranging from  $398 - $528 CAN dollar before taxes. Deals of this sort make international vacation option an easy, and inexpensive destination alternative to domestic travel.

A potential vacationer looking to leave from Halifax can take advantage of the Air Canada “across the pond” promotion and fly round trip to London for $398 CAN dollars. Taking advantage of the most popular cheap travels trips (flying midweek, during off peak hours) the least expensive domestic round trip ticket I could locate for travel between Halifax Nova Scotia and Vancouver British Columbia on Air Canada’s website www.aircanada.com was $598 CAN dollar before tax.  This ticket would provide a Halifax traveler with a basic economy class seat as part of Air Canada’s “Tango” program.   This leaves a $200 CAN saving available to anyone willing to halt their trans Canada vacation plan, sending tourism dollars over seas, and leaving Canadians with out a cheap domestic travel option.
